After 1000’s of complaints, the cellular antenna subsequent to the youngsters’s room ought to be eliminated
Negotiations are ongoing to remove a mobile antenna next to a kindergarten in Frigiliana after thousands of complaints from local residents.
The city council is in talks with Vodafone and Orange to withdraw the antenna installed in 1999, which has drawn criticism from thousands of residents over the past 20 years.
Affected members of the public have started a petition calling for the elimination of cancer fears after multiple diagnoses, reports Diario Sur, and the local council has promised to have them abolished.
However, there are still four years left on the antenna, and Mayor Alejandro Herrero assures: “We are working on it, but it is not easy at all.”
The local council, which receives an annual rent of € 6,500 for the antenna, wants to reach an agreement on the removal of the antenna rather than a lengthy and costly lawsuit.
Herrero accepted that placing an antenna outside of a kindergarten “is not the most appropriate move for the community” and assured that the council had already passed a regulation regulating the installation of this type of antenna outside the city area.
According to a report from the Ministry of Industry, the antenna’s emissions were “within the legally permissible range”.
