The Built Environment and Sustainable Technologies Research Institute (BEST) at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) was funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to develop a novel sensor platform technology based on Microwaves excellent spectroscopy for the detection of various insecticide residues on walls. This includes the design, simulation and development of RF antennas and circuits.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work with a dedicated and hard-working research team within the university, along with LSTM researchers who are at the forefront of malaria prevention worldwide. The position involves developing and validating a sensor prototype so that the ideal applicant with a proven track record in a relevant technical discipline is self-motivated.

You will support the program team in developing a novel sensor technology for the detection of various insecticides and keep up to date with the latest developments in the detection of vector-borne diseases by regularly bringing the project team and partners up to date.

You will assist the academic team in the design, implementation and analysis of experiments to test the prototype sensor and will work with members of the university (researchers, students, academics, technical staff, etc.) from all disciplines. You will also stay informed of project results and milestones and fill out mandatory reports.
