Apple can embed antennas, Contact ID in future iPhone shows

San Francisco, December 15 (IANS): According to reports, Apple plans to build iPhones with larger screens with Touch ID fingerprint readers and antennas into the display.

The iPhone manufacturer may be working on providing its users with better signal reception while providing a more secure user authentication system. This would also result in thinner bezels and notches, and offer its customers more screen real estate, reports AppleInsider.

There have been reports in the past that Apple was working on an in-display fingerprint reader for its Touch ID system. Over the past year, various patents had surfaced covering topics such as acoustic imaging, infrared, and more.

Even the renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple could bring the built-in fingerprint sensor to Touch ID in future iPhone models.

In addition, a patent previously disclosed that the RF antenna is covered under multiple layers of the display.

The antenna must be exposed in order to receive signals. That is why Apple has patented the so-called “Display Integratable Hybrid Transparent Antenna”.
