Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – Bartlett Regional Hospital has new testing capabilities and plans to soft-launch the devices.
William Gardner RN, chief operating officer of the Bartlett Regional Hospital, said tests had to be flown to outside laboratories beforehand and could prevent samples from leaking in bad weather in Juneau.
The new device is a Roche Copas 6800 analyzer.
Gardner said that when they set up a machine like this, they are essentially setting up a reference laboratory, a laboratory that does high-volume routine and specialty testing.
With this new system, tests have a processing time of 24 hours.
Your goal is to open the services to the Juneau community.
Gardner said they hope to have the soft opening sometime in the last two weeks of February.
