British aerospace firm Isotropic Programs has raised £ 29.2m to develop next-generation antennas to dramatically enhance connectivity throughout the satellite tv for pc ecosystem
Isotropic Systems, based in London, has developed the world’s first flat and most spectrally efficient multiband and electronically controllable antenna. The company claims to have made a major breakthrough in terms of technology and innovative antenna design. These antennas are designed for satellite broadcast, VSAT, microwave, multi-point wireless communication, and 5G broadband communication. In particular, these antennas are inexpensive and have no moving parts.
Financing for the development of multi-beam antennas
In a recent development, Isotropic Systems, a leading developer of transformative broadband terminal technologies, announced that it has received over $ 40 million (nearly £ 29.2 million) to develop its groundbreaking multi-beam antennas.
The funding round was led by SES along with the participation of specialist space investors Orbital Ventures, the UK Government’s Future Fund and existing investors such as Boeing HorizonX Global Ventures, Space Angels and Firmament Ventures. The financing round combines both grants and equity financing from the UK government and market leaders in the aerospace and telecommunications industries.
This round was driven by the recent development contracts for Isotropic Systems’ transformation terminal, advanced testing over the air, and accelerated development and launch of the Phase 1 terminal expected in early 2022.

Eyes to speed up the production phase
Isotropic Systems was founded in 2013 by John Finney and uses the patented high frequency optics technology. In this way, the high performance multi-beam antenna can be connected to multiple satellites in multiple orbits at the same time without affecting the performance of each connection. It unlocks the global satellite ecosystem for unparalleled connectivity in a wide variety of sectors including government, defense, shipping, corporate, and aerospace.
In particular, Isotropic Systems plans to accelerate the production phase to support new constellations and satellites launching in all satellite orbits from 2022. The company plans to open a 20,000 square foot technology and testing facility near its headquarters in Reading, UK. In addition, the company will create an additional 150 highly skilled engineering roles in the UK over the next two years.
