C-COM phased array antenna takes a big step in the direction of commercialization

(TSXV: CMI) (OTCQB: CYSNF), a leading global provider of commercial mobile satellite antenna systems with auto-provisioning, announced today, that its electronically controllable phased array antenna has passed another milestone test and delivers good results at various scan angles over the Telesat Anik F3 satellite.

“The measured over-the-air scan results agree with the theoretical figures from our simulation model and this once again confirms the high performance of the compact, scalable antenna modules and the overall system architecture for larger panels,” said Professor Ali Safavi-Naeini, Director of CIARS (Center for Intelligent Antenna and Radio Systems) at the University of Waterloo.
“The modular, intelligent technology platform offers a cost-effective solution for a variety of applications – from fixed line to mobile satellite broadband services and for the rapidly emerging millimeter-wave cellular services 5G,” he added.
The company will continue to move forward and conduct additional tests to verify the antenna’s performance across multiple different satellites, including GEO / LEO constellations, and to confirm the mobility and interoperability of the new design.
This advanced phased array Ka-band antenna is expected to open up new mobile vertical markets (land, ship, air) for the company.

Prototyping of a 4000 element antenna using the same building blocks to build the 1000 element antenna is in progress. The commercialization planning phase for this new antenna is underway.
