An Ottawa technology company has entered into an agreement to supply products to an electric vehicle manufacturer.
The Calian Group announced Tuesday that it will supply global satellite navigation systems, associated antennas and intelligent power distributors for the unnamed company’s “upcoming North American fleet of electric consumer and delivery vehicles.” These products, according to Calian, “enable more precise and reliable positioning”.
The products are being developed by Tallysman Accutenna, a company that Calian acquired in 2020, according to a press release from Calian. The company said Tallysman “adapted and refined” its antenna technology for this project, “resulting in a patented antenna that meets the stringent requirements for phase-based positioning.”
“Electric vehicles are changing the way people travel,” said Kevin Ford, CEO of Calin.
“This supply agreement signals our commitment to continuous innovation and growth in this area.”
Production is scheduled to begin in 2021.
The Calin Group employs more than 4,500 people.
