CommScope (COMM) introduces antenna options for sooner 5G rollout

CommScope Holding Company, Inc. COMM recently unveiled innovative antenna solutions for faster and easier 5G deployment. Along with its existing line of products, the company has expanded the capabilities of operators to accelerate the 5G rollout for superior data connectivity and broadband facilities across different gateways.

CommScope has introduced C-band antennas that allow operators to replace the existing multiband antenna with one with C-band functionality without resizing, eliminating costly structural changes or increasing lease fees. The company has also released CBRS antennas that support sub-6 GHz bands. These antennas use twin-beam technology, which effectively doubles the cell site’s capacity and enables deployment in six sectors. They enable network operators to increase network performance while reducing total cost of ownership.

In addition, CommScope introduced customizable 700 MHz combiners that can be calibrated to meet specific RF requirements for optimal performance without increasing cost. In particular, the 5G deployment includes adding multiple frequency bands for higher traffic flow. A fully banded commercial combiner is often inefficient and includes one of the largest, heaviest, and most expensive solutions. As a result, cellular network operators largely aim to deploy custom combiners for an inexpensive, most suitable solution.

Given CommScope’s focus on sound technology, highly efficient supply chain and continuous improvement, CommScope has emerged as a preferred partner for telecommunications companies as the industry shifts to 5G. As operators move towards converged or reusable network structures, combining voice, video and data communications into a single network, CommScope is actively developing solutions to support the convergence of wired and wireless networks, which are critical to the success of 5G.

With the acquisition of ARRIS and Ruckus Networks, CommScope is well positioned to capitalize on industry growth trends including network convergence, fiber and mobility, IoT, demand for additional bandwidth, low latency and ultra-high reliability. The company makes optimal use of customer relationships and competitive position and paves the way for a healthy business with mobility solutions, as communication service providers continue to build their networks to increase capacity and coverage. It is expected to benefit from favorable network market dynamics while creating shareholder value.

Going forward, CommScope predicts that major North American telecommunications companies and cable operators will continue to adopt avant-garde solutions to meet growing demand for bandwidth. The company specializes in supporting these comprehensive solutions through its existing product lines and ongoing developments.
