Elective tools, radio system factors amongst these on the district agenda

An optional equipment fund, a request for the new emergency communications system, and an executive meeting are among the items for today’s meeting of the Saline County Commission.

The meeting is scheduled to begin Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash Street. At the beginning of the meeting, there is a time for public comment.

Commissioners are expected to consider an application to begin reserving funds for future elective equipment exchanges. If approved, the county would set up an equipment reserve fund, an un-budgeted fund that records transfers to and from it on state budget forms each year.

Commissioners should also consider a motion to authorize the Salina, Dickinson County Airport Authority and McPherson Fire Department to program their radios with the necessary talkgroups to enable them to communicate with various Saline County’s public safety authorities. The request became necessary when the Salina-Saline district’s new emergency communication system went into operation.

The following items are on the district’s agenda on Tuesday.

● Consider approving an RxBenefits management service contract

● Consider applying to Saline County to serve as the regional public health officer to oversee a regional grant. The district has done that in the past.

● Consider approving the annual WIC Letter of Understanding between Saline County and Ellsworth Counties

● Listen to the district administrator’s weekly update.

It is also planned that the commissioners will have an executive meeting to negotiate between employers and workers.
