Excessive energy amplifiers RF and microwave avionics
LAKEHURST, NJ – US Navy avionics experts required high-power amplifiers for the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye carrier aircraft. They found their solution at North Star Scientific Corp. in Kapolei, Hawaii.
Officials at the Aircraft Division of the Naval Air Warfare Center in Lakehurst, New Jersey, announced last week to North Star Scientific a $ 9.6 million order for 42 high-power amplifiers for the Navy E-2D fleet. The contract includes engineering and engineering data support for the setup, installation and testing of high-performance amplifier units.
North Star Scientific will provide 13 high-performance amplifier units for E-2D crypto modernization and retrofitting aircraft for frequency conversion. 10 amplifiers for TTNT production aircraft (E-2D Tactical Targeting Network Technology); 10 spare amplifiers; five amplifiers for system configuration set-11 E-2C aircraft; and four amplifiers for retrofitting E-2D-TTNT aircraft.

North Star Scientific specializes in developing military communications and radar equipment for military systems such as the Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye radar aircraft. the Lockheed Martin P-3 Orion patrol aircraft P-3; the coastal combat ship; and other unmanned air and sea vehicles.

North Star Scientific’s power amplifiers include the 50 watt VRC99B in the air power amplifier for various aircraft. It has a frequency range of 1.7 to 2 GHz; a minimum power of 50 watts; an input voltage of 28 volts DC; RS-422 control; and measures 7.75 cm wide, 6.39 cm high and 11.32 cm long.
