The flexible printed circuit board manufacturer Flexium Interconnect has forecast double-digit growth in sales in 2021, which can be attributed to the shipment of LCP antenna boards for smartphones.

Flexium assumes that such boards will be shipped for next-generation iPhones, according to industry information.

Flexium is confident of becoming a major supplier of LCP antenna modules for this year’s new iPhones. Volume deliveries are expected to take place at its new plant in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, from the second half of 2021.

Flexium announced that it will begin construction of the second phase of its Kaohsiung manufacturing complex in mid-2021. To aid expansion, the company said its investments for the year will double to NT $ 6.5 billion to NT $ 7.5 billion ($ 232.14 million to $ 267.86 million).

Flexium also found that MPI antenna modules for portable devices, notebooks and tablets, and LCP modules for smartphones combined will account for over 25% of total sales in 2021, compared to less than 20% in 2020.

Flexium reported sales growth of 14.8% year over year to NT $ 29.898 billion for 2020. Net income reached NT $ 2.934 billion, 7% below the prior-year figure.
