GSSI updates to the StructureScan ™ Mini XT GPR package and Palm XT antenna
GSSI announces new updates to the StructureScan ™ Mini XT all-in-one GPR concrete inspection system, including a software update and a newly developed survey wheel for the Palm XT antenna.
GSSI, the world’s leading manufacturer of ground penetrating radar (GPR), announces new updates to the StructureScan ™ Mini XT all-in-one GPR concrete inspection system, including a software update and a newly developed survey wheel for the Palm XT antenna.
The sturdy, compact, and flexible StructureScan Mini XT is ideal for locating rebar, conduit, post tensioning cables, and voids. The Mini XT can help identify structural elements such as the ladle deck and concrete cover and determine the concrete slab thickness in real time. The Palm XT is a miniaturized GPR antenna designed to enhance the capabilities of the Mini XT by giving users access in close-knit areas and allowing easier overhead scanning.
With a Mini XT software update with version 1.5.0, users can manually adjust their gain – the artificial addition of signals to counter the natural effects of attenuation. Until now, the Mini XT only had an “Auto Gain” function, with which the screen brightness is adjusted in order to either brighten under-won (weak) images or to dampen over-won (saturated) images. Auto gain is usually recommended for real-time location to allow the user to initialize when the signal quality changes between profiles. Manual enhancement allows users to change the contrast that is applied to the top half (flat) and bottom half (deep) of the screen. With this update, users can also use the layer option to change the contrast across the entire data image. All software updates for the StructureScan Mini XT are free from the GSSI website.

With the newly developed survey wheel for the Palm XT antenna, users can quickly switch between normal, sidecar and cross-polarization modes. GSSI will also offer an upgrade kit to retrofit earlier Palm XT antennas. The new multi-position survey wheel adapter kit contains high-strength, abrasion-resistant, impact-resistant thermoplastic moldings and associated screws for installation on the Palm XT, as well as step-by-step installation instructions. If a user has the Palm XT Extension Bar, an additional part is included in the kit to allow the bar to fit on the Palm XT.
“The GSSI StructureScan XT has been an integral part of our concrete scanning load for years and easily provides our highest ROI with the Palm XT. The addition of the new survey wheel adapter to the Palm XT is only the best.” so much better from our kit. “Reid Davis from Concrete GPR.
