Keysight and DEKRA are working collectively to acquire OmniAir as a licensed check laboratory and check gear supplier for C-V2X system certification

Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS), a leading technology company providing advanced design and validation solutions to accelerate innovation, connect and secure the world, and DEKRA, an international expert organization, announced that DEKRA has announced the Keysight’s SA8700A C-V2X uses test solution recognized as the OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratory (OATL) for the certification of Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) devices.

The efforts between the two companies also enabled Keysight to become the first vendor to achieve OmniAir Qualified Test Equipment (OQTE) status. DEKRA supported Keysight with validation expertise to check whether the test equipment met the OmniAir specifications, and Keysight provided DEKRA with the test solutions that were required for the introduction of the C-V2X program.

Growing investment in C-V2X technology leads to broad market acceptance of applications that increase traffic safety and the efficiency of the transport of people and goods. DEKRA relies on Keysight’s OQTE status to perform comprehensive physical and protocol C-V2X certification of chipsets, subassemblies and devices for use on board vehicles as well as parts of the roadside infrastructure.

“Keysight is excited to help DEKRA create an industry-leading laboratory-based environment for comprehensive C-V2X device certification across access, network and message layers,” said Thomas Goetzl, vice president and general manager for the automotive and energy solutions business from Keysight unit. “Keysight’s portfolio of automotive solutions for testing wireless connections, interoperability, electromagnetic compatibility, cybersecurity and functional safety shows our shared passion for driving intelligent transportation solutions.”

In 2018 in Malaga, Spain, DEKRA established the world’s first OATL for physical layer (PHY) validation and protocol compliance with Keysight’s E6953A V2X test solution, which supports the OmniAir Consortium’s test specifications for Dedicated Short Range Communication Technology (DSRC). Keysight’s SA8700A C-V2X test solution, which received OQTE status for the first time in April 2021, now gives DEKRA access to a wide range of C-V2X test cases defined by the OmniAir consortium. This enables onboard (OBU) and roadside unit (RSU) providers to quickly certify designs that are equipped with C-V2X technology.

The story goes on

“We are excited to partner with Keysight to provide testing and certification services that meet the regional and global needs of the automotive markets and work towards the implementation of C-V2X. Manufacturers and suppliers interested in OmniAir certification can contact.” can now rely on DEKRA to receive its V2X certificate for products based on both C-V2X and DSRC technologies, “said Fernando E. Hardasmal, Head of Service Division Product Testing and Executive Vice President at DEKRA.

“The addition of C-V2X technology to OmniAir’s connected vehicle certification program is an exciting step forward,” said Jason Conley, executive director of the OmniAir Consortium. “DEKRA is a proven leader in providing connected vehicle testing and we are pleased that they were the first to pass the comprehensive audit to become an OATL offering C-V2X certification testing.”

Keysight’s interoperability, performance and compliance solutions, which include C-V2X, Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), support a growing trend in connected car adoption driven by urbanization and demand more safety on the road. The global automotive V2X market is projected to top over $ 11 billion in 2027, according to Allied Market Research.

Keysight and DEKRA began working together on vehicle connectivity solutions in 2018. In addition to more than 130 companies, Keysight and DEKRA are members of the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA), a cross-industry consortium that contributes to the definition of V2X communication based on the new 5G radio (NR). 5G improves connection reliability, reduces latency and increases network security.
