KVH Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: KVHI) today unveiled the TracPhone® V30, an ultra-compact Ku-band VSAT antenna that delivers data speeds of up to 6 Mbps at the International Boat Show in Palm Beach (FL) . 2 Mbit / s for leisure and commercial boats that want to take advantage of the internet at sea. At just 37 cm in diameter and weighing 10.6 kg, the TracPhone V30 offers easy installation and retrofitting with a single power data coaxial cable versus multiple cables, plus the use of DC power, a plus for small boats with limited power.

KVH has equipped the antenna with a modem in the dome to ensure excellent reception with improved signal efficiency, as well as powerful tracking and stabilization for fast boats and rough seas. An optimized lower deck unit called the VSAT hub offers state-of-the-art HTS modem connections, integrated WLAN, data routing, firewall security and a VoIP adapter for telephone calls.

This combination of the TracPhone V30’s small antenna size, ease of installation and fast data speed enables internet connection, content streaming and social media use on sailboats, center console boats and pleasure boats. In addition, the TracPhone V30 is well suited for commercial vessels that do not travel around the world, including fishing boats, tugs, and offshore service vessels. For recreational and commercial vessels, the TracPhone V30 offers the advantages of advanced Satcom technology as a replacement for older L-band systems, which normally offer data speeds of only 432 Kbit / s.

“Our new TracPhone V30 delivers fast data speeds in a compact device, and we believe it will disrupt the leisure and business markets by making VSAT more affordable than ever at sea,” said Mark Woodhead, executive vice president of mobile connectivity at KVH. “Whether they’re streaming content, checking email, using social media, or managing their business, both recreational boaters and small commercial boat operators can count on reliable VSAT connectivity everywhere.”

Although the TracPhone V30 antenna is ultra-compact, it has global coverage via KVH’s Mini-VSAT BroadbandSM network, which provides global coverage from multi-layer high-throughput satellites (HTS) on the Intelsat FlexMaritime network with additional coverage from SKY Perfect JSAT.

KVH offers a range of affordable and unlimited flight schedules starting at $ 99 per month with month-to-month contract flexibility to meet the needs of recreational boaters who are only allowed to use their boats part of the year, as well as commercial ship operators whose work is cyclical. The KVH Manager tool suite provides an easily accessible portal for managing the use of operational and personal data.

With the TracPhone V30, KVH has added a fourth system to its award-winning VSAT product line, which includes the 37 cm TracPhone V3-HTS, the 60 cm TracPhone V7-HTS and the 1-meter TracPhone V11-HTS and maximum Data delivers speeds of 6/2 Mbit / s down / up to 20/3 Mbit / s down / up.

KVH is a mobile technology innovator offering connectivity solutions for commercial marine, recreational and land mobile applications on ships and vehicles, including the award-winning TracPhone and TracVision® product lines, the global mini-VSAT broadband network and AgilePlans® connectivity as a service.
