The antenna family includes both four-port and five-port options, each with vertical and horizontal cellular elements within the same antenna. The inclusion of the orthogonally aligned elements improves both received signal performance and quality due to the superior decorrelation of the MIMO pair of cellular ports. In addition, the trigger cellular connections benefit from generally reduced zeros / ripples in the gain pattern and more omnidirectional gain from the vertical dipole element. This configuration can provide an antenna efficiency improvement of up to 20% over competing technologies.

At the same time, the inclusion of both vertical and horizontal radiation elements means that they can offer significant increases in performance compared to conventional flat-shape chocolate bar antennas.

This installability means these antennas can be mounted much closer to vehicle routers and gateways, which are typically placed under dashboards, under seats, or in the trunk of the vehicle. This avoids complex antenna installations that may require drilling roof or trunk lids to install an external antenna. Mounting closer to the gateway also enables shorter cables, which leads to increased RF power.
