Naval base related by digital radio system

A A new digital radio communications system has been developed to meet the requirements of the Clyde Naval Base in Scotland.

The system installed by TES Communication Solutions from Lancashire offers secure encryption and fiber optic connections for the consistency of data and voice communication throughout the Babcock Marine fleet technology delivery team, which takes care of the maintenance of submarines and other ships.

The system offers new levels of communication for 280 employees who now work in teams and can communicate directly on site via the portable radios with Motorola Capacity Max technology and a central PC dispatcher terminal.

Paul Henderson, Project Manager – Business Improvements at HMNB Clyde, said: “This enables instant communication between the various fleet engineering project teams, each using their own frequency on site, without any disruption.

“It will help improve the efficiency of the site and improve the communication of critical information with key people who may be on the other end of the site.

“Crane and skidding companies can now continue to work, for example, even in times of limited lighting, knowing that other employees can guide them via the radio system. This system will also be crucial in ensuring that in the event of an incident we can quickly access information where we need it.

Steve Smith, Head of Business Development at TES, said, “This is a proven technology that is adapted to these specific circumstances and provides a highly secure, consistent service for HMNB Clyde and its employees to communicate about this vast area on the Clyde to enable.

“We are proud to have won the business and then worked closely with the local HMNB Clyde team to deliver such a high quality system to ensure they have a system that delivers exactly what they need.”

HMNB Clyde is the main Royal Navy presence in Scotland and home to the core of the submarine service.

TES Communication Solutions radio systems have been installed in infrastructure systems around the world where there is a need for dedicated communication and lists clients such as BP, Vivergo Fuels, UBS Bank, Astra Zeneca, West Midlands Metro and Manchester Metro.
