Parasound expands ZoneMaster Line – rAVe with new energy amplifiers [PUBS]
Parasound has added a pair of two-channel and four-channel power amplifiers to its ZoneMaster range for professional audio system installers. The Parasound ZoneMaster ZM 2 and ZM 4 each have a nominal output of 150 watts for the typical 4-ohm and 2-ohm loads of architectural loudspeakers and 120 watts for 8-ohm hi-fi loudspeakers.
The two output zones of the Parasound ZoneMaster ZM 4 can both be operated from a common source bus or independently from two separate zone sources. This makes it possible, for example, to have a music program in the kitchen and a separate program in a bedroom. Each channel has individually adjustable line level gain controls. Loop outputs allow additional amplifiers to be daisy-chained. A switch on the back determines whether the output for each zone is mono or stereo. It uses detachable Phoenix-style speaker-out connectors preferred by custom installers and can power up to eight speakers through the A + B speaker outputs.
The Parasound ZoneMaster ZM 2 offers similar performance and features for a single zone, but includes an 80 Hertz low pass filter for subwoofers. The filter can be applied to the line level output for use with an active subwoofer. It can also be applied to the main amp outputs for use with passive subwoofers in mono or stereo mode. Up to four loudspeakers can be supplied with power via the A&B loudspeaker outputs via the small footprint of the ZM 2.
Both amplifiers can be switched on via a 12 volt trigger, audio detection or button on the front. The ZM 4 offers switch-on options for all zones or for each zone individually. This provides exceptional flexibility, especially with popular brand name streaming sources with 12V triggers. With the ZM, both amplifiers have 4 loop outputs for all zones or individual zones.
The Parasound ZoneMaster ZM 2 and ZM 4 are painted black. The ZM 4 is designed for rack mounting and sturdy die-cast mounting brackets are included at no extra charge. The half-width ZM 2 can be rack-mounted with an optional ZRK adapter kit.
The Parasound ZoneMaster ZM 4 will be available in early October with a suggested retail price in the US of $ 995. The Parasound ZoneMaster ZM 2 is currently available at a suggested retail price in the US of $ 495.
