Plan Easy Ku-Band Antenna Development with Set up on Falcon 2000LX
Satcom Direct builds on the success of initial flight tests of its Plane Simple antenna series with the installation of the advanced tail antenna on a second type of aircraft, the SD Dassault Falcon 2000LX.
The antenna is already equipped with the SD Gulfstream G350. The inclusion of the Dassault platform in the validation process will double the testing capacity to provide direct comparative feedback on the full capabilities of the system.

“The addition of a second platform will serve to further verify the benefits of integrating the new advanced technology antenna into the already proven SD ecosystem of hardware, software and terrestrial infrastructure. Our mission is to analyze performance and provide our early adopter customers with a high performing, reliable and validated connectivity solution, ”said Chris Moore, SD President of Business Aviation.
“The dual tests on two very different aircraft platforms demonstrate our commitment to providing seamless end-to-end connectivity for a wider range of aircraft types than ever before. Before the in-service evaluation with customers, which should begin in the third quarter of 2021, it also gives us the opportunity to issue our first commercial supplementary type certificate that will support installation for Falcon 2000 owners worldwide. ”More STCs will be up To follow at the end of the year.
The Plane Simple Dual Variant antenna is installed at the Dassault Falcon Jet facility in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Air validation on the Falcon 2000LX begins in July and will validate the terminal’s functionality on the Intelsat FlexExec network, load the system using multiple high-bandwidth applications simultaneously, and test its capabilities on a range of flight dynamics.
“We focus on developing products for the business aviation community that are specifically designed to meet the unique needs of the industry. Instead of repurposing existing technology, we are leveraging our business aviation expertise to bring a range of antennas to market that meet the high demands of our business, military and government aviation customers, ”said Moore.
The Plane Simple Ku-band antenna is the first of a series of antenna systems that SD is developing in cooperation with the German-based QEST Quantenelektronische Systeme GmbH, a global market leader for innovative aerospace antennas. Once activated, the terminal supports the Intelsat FlexExec Ku-band service, which has been specially developed for the needs of business aviation operators.
