Raytheon’s X-Web radio system receives Kind 1 certification from the NSA
The National Security Agency issued certification to X-Net, a data communications system developed by a Raytheon Technologies company to aid in the secure data link operation of air-fired ammunition and other weapon systems.
Raytheon Intelligence and Space’s X-Net system is now recognized as a Crypto High Value product through Type 1 certification, which enables data transmission on multiple air and ground platforms of the Department of Defense, the company announced on Tuesday.
The X-Net radio communication system was introduced in 2018 to meet military requirements for a secure data connection that enables continuous communication during surveillance and reconnaissance operations.
The software-defined radio system supports missions by selecting optimal radio frequencies in competitive environments.
“X-Net fulfills a critical need for the military. As more and more platforms are connected to communication networks, it is important to keep the data transmitted on these networks secure, especially when it comes to controlling weapons, ”said Denis Donohue, vice president of communication and airspace management systems at RI & S.
RI & S has been developing information security systems for over three decades. 100 of these products are certified by the NSA.
