Southwest Antennas Releases New Rugged GPS Energetic L1 / L2 Patch Antenna for Army and Business GNSS Purposes

New GPS Active L1 / L2 antenna for military and civil applications

Part # 1065-042 covers both the L1 and L2 bands and supports military, commercial, and industrial applications. For military users, this antenna supports the GPS P / Y code with a bandwidth of +/- 20 MHz, which enables increased accuracy, congestion resistance and encryption for authorized military applications

Southwest Antennas, an industry leader in rugged RF and microwave antennas and accessories, is proud to introduce a brand new, high performance GPS & GLONASS Active L1 / L2 patch antenna for high-precision location, timing and navigation applications.

Southwest Antennas Part No. 1065-042 covers both the L1 and L2 bands and supports military, commercial and industrial applications. For military users, this antenna supports the GPS P / Y code with a bandwidth of +/- 20 MHz, which enables increased accuracy, congestion resistance and encryption for authorized military applications.

The built-in LNA and the antenna’s filters offer an active system gain of +28 dB and an out-of-band rejection of> 50 dB (+50 MHz / -35 MHz from L1, +35 MHz / -45 MHz from L2)), making the antenna in can be operated in controversial and congested RF environments.

“Our goal is to give radio operators who need high-precision GNSS solutions more deployment and assembly choices,” said Benjamin Culver, President and Co-Owner of Southwest Antennas. “By expanding our existing range of GPS antennas and gooseneck mounting options, users now have more freedom of choice in antenna placement to overcome reception problems in challenging environments.”

The low profile radome allows the antenna to be easily stowed away in pockets or MOLLE bags and attached to body armor, vests, backpacks or other tactical devices. The custom black chrome-plated SMA (f) RF connector ensures the antenna is waterproof and allows users to fully customize antenna placement to suit their equipment and choose their own cable type and length to suit their preferred location outside of the Prefer recipient.

For additional flexibility in the installation locations, part 1065-042 has an innovative magnetic holder that is integrated flush into the radome of the antenna and enables ferromagnetic surfaces to be quickly attached and removed. This extends the operational capabilities of the antenna by allowing the antenna to be placed remotely from the connected radio system to improve satellite acquisition speed and signal strength when working in poor sky environments.

Product applications include:

  • SAASM GPS, GLONASS, GNSS receivers and other precision navigation receivers

  • Manpack and handheld radios, dismantled communications at soldier level
  • Small form factor radios
  • Flat vehicle mounts and unmanned ground vehicles
  • Unattended / intelligent ammunition systems
  • Aviators, combat search and rescue radios
  • Interference systems for the detection and destruction of IEDs
  • Law enforcement and first responders
  • Precision survey receiver
  • Tracking of goods
  • Precision timing applications
  • LBS & M2M applications
  • Oil and gas industry
