Geneva, October 15, 2020 – STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a global leader in semiconductors serving customers across the spectrum of electronic applications, today announced the acquisition and integration of the assets of SOMOS Semiconductor (“SOMOS”). SOMOS, based in Marly-le-Roy (France), is a fabless semiconductor company that was founded in 2018 and specializes in silicon-based power amplifiers and FEM (RF Front-End Modules) products.

With this acquisition, ST strengthens its specialists, IP and roadmaps of front-end modules for the IoT and 5G market. A first product – an NB-IoT / CAT-M1 module – is already being qualified and will mark the beginning of a new roadmap for connectivity RF-FEM products. The SOMOS technology and facilities will also support the development of ST’s existing roadmap for RF front-end modules for the 5G infrastructure market.
