Summit Racing Gear renews dedication to IHRA Summit SuperSeries
The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and Summit Racing Equipment will continue the longest series partnership in drag racing with the IHRA Summit SuperSeries, Summit Team Finals and IHRA Summit World Finals in 2021.
The 2021 season marks the 20th anniversary of the IHRA Summit SuperSeries, the most prestigious drag racing series that began in 2002.
The $ 200,000 program is the world championship for over 12,000 IHRA member racers per season and is run on nearly 100 IHRA-approved member tracks.
IHRA Summit SuperSeries track champions from 28 states and international competitors from Canada and Aruba are at the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals at the Memphis International Raceway from October 14th to 16th in the divisions Top (Box), Mod (No Box), Athlete and Juniors represented, 2021. In addition, qualified finalists of the Summit Team Final from seven IHRA regions will also compete in Memphis. This makes Memphis the most famous championship event in bracket drag racing.
“The Summit SuperSeries, Summit Team Finals and Summit World Finals continue to be successful programs that have stood the test of time,” said IHRA Vice President Skooter Peaco. “We are very proud of the success the Summit SupersSeries have achieved over the past 19 years thanks to our great IHRA member tracks who oversee and manage this program throughout the season and the Summit Racing Equipment team who are committed to our Sportsman racer has long used. It’s interesting that in all the changes drag racing and IHRA have seen over the past 20 years, the only constant has been the Summit SuperSeries and their athlete-focused programs. These have continued to evolve despite the ever changing trends and external pressures we have been exposed to over the past two decades. I hope this program goes well beyond the tenure of our current management team so that future athlete racers can enjoy it. This is truly a legacy program for IHRA and its members and competitors. The IHRA team had the privilege of overseeing this prestigious Sportsman program and was delighted to offer our IHRA members $ 4 million for a total of four years to close the 2021 season. ”
“We are very excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Summit Racing’s partnership with many great IHRA Sportsman programs. The series has evolved and improved over the years for the benefit of the great IHRA Sportsman racers, ”said Jim Greenleaf, Motorsport and Events Manager, Summit Racing Equipment. “The Summit World Final is one of our favorite end-of-season events. We look forward to crowning the national champions and presenting the drivers with a trophy and a large check.”
