JASPER TOWNSHIP, Michigan (AP) – A single-engine plane that crashed and caught fire in a field in central Michigan could have hit a radio antenna tower or the guy wires that support it, a sheriff said Thursday.
Two fields of debris from Monday’s crash contained one near the tower, said Midland County’s sheriff Myron Greene. The other was in a field near Jasper County where the hull came to rest.
The crash killed Slade David Martin, 23, of Gratiot County, Greene said. He was the only occupant of the plane.
The investigation had been handed over to federal authorities, he said.
