The world’s first industrial deep area communication antenna opens within the UK

The world’s first commercial deep-space communication antenna performed its first operational work on July 11th and received images from the European Space Agency’s Mars Express mission. The images – showing a thin Martian crescent and the planet’s cratered, ocher-colored disk – were transmitted via the antenna labeled “GHY-6” at the Goonhilly earth station in Cornwall in south-west Great Britain.
