Zain Saudi Arabia achieved 1.9 Gbit / s within the check with the Nokia Airscale Indoor Radio System
Nokia announced that it achieved a record speed of 1.9 Gbit / s in a test of its AirScale Indoor Radio System (ASiR) at the Zain KSA headquarters in Jeddah. The high speeds of the experiment were achieved at 3.5 GHz including multiband ASiR-pRRH and with E-UTRAN New Radio – Dual Connectivity (EN-DC). Zain KSA launched commercial 5G services in Saudi Arabia in October 2019 and now covers 50 cities in the kingdom made possible by more than 4,600 towers.
According to Nokia, the ASiR system supports all major network technologies and is designed for an easy upgrade from 4G to 5G NR with minimal on-site interference. It comprises small inner cells for a consistent 5G service with high data rates on several floors, including open and partitioned offices and meeting rooms. It offers an advanced single frequency network (SFN) indoor service that meets requirements such as low cost of ownership, small product form factor and extensive indoor coverage.
